    Hot Damn!

Coming from team ‘not again till you fix it OLED.’ I can offer a ‘done both’ opinion when comparing to OLED.I took a chance on this TV after researching. I needed two 75 inch to replace a broken LG 86 inch, and an old OLED (burn in, mold, color off). Both arrived and delivery team was especially helpful :)I decided I would just unbox one and test it JIC poop.Set up was easy, I installed the stand at highest level, props for having option here. Google / app setup was painless, tv settings easy to grasp. Then I tried some OLED test videos on the Tube. I left them playing to quickly unpack and setup the second. I assume the big boys using the same technology may instrument a better picture, but I was just blown away. Of course needs some time to see if any issues crop up, but end to end I find this to be an outstanding TV. The 86 LG was ok, but had plenty of halo action clearly evident on white on black stuff. IDK how they do it, but I haven’t seen enough to even be sure it was on this tv. The 75 inch version of this model has different panel type, and that’s a win for my use case. Well off center viewing is acceptable for my needs. Finally both TVs are in rooms with floor to ceiling windows, super bright the first half of the day. This TV still performs wonderfully. Is it OLED…nope. Is it Sony, LG, Sam, etc…nope. Will you know the difference…Probably not 🙂

So Far, Very Happy with Purchase!

I had a TCL 55 r635 I bought in 2020. As I’m getting older, I realize I can’t see crap anymore, so I’ve been thinking about a 75″ TV.I began saving up at the beginning of the year, and after much research, decided to roll the dice on the Hisense U8N.So far, I’m very, very happy. On the Prime day in Oct, they had it discounted so that at the discounted price, you could buy the 4 year extended warranty and it came out to what they were charging normally. Can’t beat that! Normally I don’t buy extended warranties, but the only downside I could see on Reddit and other places is that the memory in the TV fails on some units so I didn’t want to get stuck in that situation.Another huge plus buying from Amazon is that they had free delivery and setup. 2 guys brought it inside and set it up on the TV stand (which I also bought from Amazon a few weeks prior). For sitting 12 feet back from the TV, due to our living room set up, 75″ is perfect. I really feel like I’m in a movie theater. We have a massive, bright window in the living room, with dark out curtains, and we don’t see an issue with seeing the TV.I like the TCL, and it was my first 4k TV, but wow, in just 4 years, this Hisense is really impressive. My wife and I love to stream 4k YouTube videos of things like walking through Tokyo videos, etc, and it really feels like your there. The colors really pop, and the blacks really are black. I know streaming 4k content is compressed and worse than a 4k DVD, so I picked up The Greatest Showman in 4k and WOW! Not only does it look wonderful, but the sound is pretty decent too. It helps having that little sub woofer on it. Now, it doesn’t rattle like the kids car down the street, but it does give the sound a little oomph. I’ve ordered the LorR trilogy on 4k, so can’t wait to see that on this TV!My Xbox Series X is sharp as ever on this TV too.So far, no complaints. I not into the stuff enough to mess with setting and all, although I did turn off all motion settings, and I’m 100% happy with this TV and feel no regrets at all. If you’re on the fence, and can afford the warranty, jump on it.Nice bonus too was that if you click through the NBA link for the listing, they give you a free copy of NBA2k25, and not just the base game, but the upgraded $100 version. I wasn’t expecting that at all. What an awesome bonus on top of the discount Amazon gave.EDIT: 03Dec2024 – I’d update this to 3.5 stars out of 5 at this time. After having for a few months now, I must say… Google TV is not great. It’s so sluggish on this TV. My old Roku TV was snappy… this definitely is not.Reflections aren’t great in this… we have a light in our living room that, when on, gives a terrible reflection. Because the TV is so large, we can’t seem to move the light out of the way so it doesn’t reflect. Finally, I don’t see what all the hype is about with the atmos. The sub woofer is great, and the TV sounds great, but I hear no different with Atmos on vs. Atmos off. There is no upward firing vents for the supposed Atmos speakers, so maybe they’re already muffled and it’s a mute point… who knows.

took days to setup, do not like need for dedicated remote

The initial power on a setup sequence went well, but the picture was way to colorful (oversaturated) and cartoonish. None of the half dozen picture presets (standard, sports, movie, theater, etc). Only “energy saving” was half tolerable. It took many attempts to turn down saturation and repeated attempts to minimize the ambient light sensitivity to get to a picture that was watchable. I have years of television engineering experience and I do not know how other users deal with the ugly picture presets. The You Tube streaming chips always start with an ad – OK. But the “skip” button is only operable using the HiSense remote and can not be used via the Xfinity remote (even after the remote has been programmed by Xfinity to work with this TV). For increased convenience using Xfinity we have multiple Xfinity remotes at various locations in the family room and kitchen. This means that we can not use You Tube to skip without walking back to where the HiSense remote is located (doubly bad during a meal in the kitchen). My previous TV had analog audio output and I specifically selected this TV because it to had such an output. My existing audio distribution system send the analog audio to speakers at the far end of the kitchen to provide local sound support if needed. This legacy system did not work with this new TV. It seems the TV has to sense the input impedance to the headphones to provide and acceptable output level. The output worked a set of headphones but did not work with my high impedance distribution wiring. I finally had to add some loading resistors to my system to satisfy the TV’s output and got things working. The TV’s subwoofer added distracting and annoying thumb – thumb – thumb sounds to some programs audio streams. I finally found the option to turn that darn thing completely off.SO, after all of those frustrations and annoyances, the TV seems OK now.

    Is the U8N OLED ?

I realize that a review should be measured….Money doesn’t come easy for most. When I purchased my first Hisense a u8g in 2021 I had just come back China and hesitated long.I am not a fan of it’s goverment. China is famous for knock offs but this product, u8n is no knock off.I beleive the U8n is the best value in television . I donated my u8g [ still working great ] but just wanted something new…Why ? Being spoiled does that.Anyway, i have a G4 in my living room and the Hisense in my bedroom. The pricing is $2500 and $1000 respectively….IMO The G4 is great but in an unbias test [ not know the brand } some would choose the U8N as equal or better.

Clear, bright picture and decent sound system for a TV.

So far the TV has been great. The interface takes some getting used to coming from an Amazon fire setup. The TV itself and the controller are a good quality. The controler in particular has become my go to, I was using a universal remote before. The built-in speakers are pretty good, I turned off my soundbar to test them and haven’t used the bar since. The bass and sound quality is amazing for a TV. I only have 2 gripes. One, I thought this TV had a camera for a while, the little window on the front and all the initial setup info suggests it had one, which I didn’t want, so I spent unnecessary time trying to figure out how to disable before finally realizing there is no built in camera evidently. I guess it’s a sensor of some sort on the front that looks suspiciously like a camera. Secondly, all the lights on the front when something is turned off are confusing. You’d think lights would be on indicating a powered on state, however when you mute the mic there’s like 4-5 bright LED lights that stay on all the time. Also another LED light turns on when the TV is off, but the light isn’t on when the TV is on…confusing. I’d hate to put a piece of electrical tape over it, but it seems the best solution.

    This TV is really awesome!

This TV is really awesome! The picture is very clear and bright. Dark scenes look deep and bright ones stand out without any glare on the screen. The sound is great too. It feels like being in a real theater — the sound comes from all around and even from above. The picture is smooth with no delays. You can easily change game settings with the remote. It adjusts the picture and sound automatically depending on what you watch. The screen doesn’t reflect light, the colors are bright and vivid and it supports all modern HDR formats. With Google TV it’s easy to find what to watch. I highly recommend it.

Better than Crystal UHD but that says nothing, really

Decent TV but quality is not near as good as premium brands. However over a Crystal UHD, this is an improvement. The TV talks when turning on so young people if you want this unit just know some Gen Z’er thought it was cool to hear, “Subwoofer paired, TV on, yada yada yada” when turning the unit on. There is no hiding the turn on sounds, that I can find, which is annoying to family when I wake at 4am and turn on the news. We use a soundbar & wireless sub with this tv and if we did not, there’s no way we would be able to hear much. The speakers are junk and that’s typical these days for the upsell, so you’ll need a sound bar especially if you’re an old Gen X’er that went to too many concerts or you have tinnitus. It’s also a Google TV meaning that to access services like apps or accessing channel setup, you’ve got to give another corp citizen privileges to track what you watch. We don’t use internet on the TV itself and we chose against providing feedback to Hisense. We also use a third party platform attached via HDMI to stream and we use a VPN. Our privacy is more important than helping a corp citizen glean information they really don’t need. Not to mention there are limited apps on Google TV’s. It’s an okay TV for the money but I’d pay as little as possible, wait on a sale!

GREAT deal for the price, but just a little different.

By far, this is the best non-OLED tv I think I’ve ever seen. EXTREMELY bright whites, deep blacks, and color is crazy good and accurate. Sound isn’t bad for built-in speakers. Interface is great for the most part. UI is snappy and easy to navigate (once it’s actually setup).A few things to note that kept this from being a 5-star TV for me:1) The VESA mounting points are irregular for a 65″ TV. So out of the box, this didn’t work with my existing mount that my previous 65″ used. This one is on me for not checking beforehand.2) The supplied stand is not good. It has a slight backward lean that makes the experience just strange. The fact that it’s just one leg in the middle also doesn’t give me a ton of confidence in its stability.3) The on-screen volume control is annoying. I use an external optical soundbar (not eARC). So why does it still come up with an irrelevant volume slider that doesn’t actually match the volume. And when it’s “muted” why does the mute icon stay persistent? Just let it disappear after a few seconds.4) Setup process was annoying. If I was less technologically inclined, I’d probably return the TV. Unless you have a Google Home already setup (I’m sure most do not), it’s a PITA to get going. Setup process easily took 30+ minutes. All that said, I’d still purchase the TV again given the chance. These are just my observations – YMMV!

    Unbelievable. So far, go good!

It was delivered without an issue. Box had no signs of damage or mishandling. The two delivery men were very professional and helpful. After setting it up with all the Google stuff (logins, permissions, etc.) it worked like a charm. This unit replaced a LG C9 OLED which, after only a few years of use, suffered badly with image retention and degradation of the overall picture. This HiSense is a far better Tv for my use. After configuring it as recommended by Rtings.com, it was beyond stellar. The LG never looked good unless it was connected to my Apple 4k box where it boosted the picture up to Dolby Vision. The HDR picture from the Hisense doesn’t need it. (And it automatically kicks in the Dolby Vision when the streaming content is in that format.). Also, I HATE seeing wires. Even with the two feed the 55 inch uses, I was able to hide the wires using the channels in the unit’s feet. OTA works great. On my LG, I could never get any OTA channels using ye olde mud flap antenna. The HiSense found over 35 HD Channels using the same antenna! The Google interface is far superior to the WebOS mess from LG. The remote is intuitive and integrates perfectly with the Google interface. I was able to download and set up all my streaming apps easily and see a significant improvement of the same apps that were on the LG. Absolutely no issues streaming. It connected easily to my home network at 6 GHz.

    Beautiful life-like picture

The picture is amazing. One can tweak so many settings. Like all smart TV’s though, all its spyware is turned on by default, so make sure to go into the settings and apps and turn off every instance where it says that the TV is sending back to google info about your browsing, viewing, keyboard typing, microphone, camera, etc. I dumbed it down as much as I could since I’m using it as a monitor attached to my laptop. I like that it allows for plenty of tweaking of the settings. I got this one over the sam_sung for that very reason.

    BUY IT!

I LOVE my U8N! I have a very bright room with windows facing the TV so an OLED wasn’t an option. This TV is super bright! The picture is insanity. The blacks are so black that I think the TV is literally off sometimes. I also won the panel lottery with this one, no DSE. I am 100% satisfied!

Well Worth the Money If You Don’t Need the Optical.

This is a really nice unit, and at the Black Friday price a really good deal. The picture and sound are remarkable and the packaging is attractive without dominating. I wish that we could keep it. The only problem is that the optical output won’t work. We need optical to connect with equipment for a special hearing situation. The manual – the 100-page downloaded manual describes how to fix it but the operation described in the manual doesn’t match the unit. Amazon sent me an email with links to instructional videos on how to set-up the optical connection. Very clear and well done but in no way similar to the actual on-screen menus on this unit. Hisense technical help is only a superficial check list with no opportunity to talk to a real person. The actual fix is most likely in the service menu which I couldn’t get into.

By Far The Best TV I Have Ever Owned

This is by far the best display I have ever seen, period. I am the pickiest, most-demanding person you will ever meet; I worked in Hollywood for 40 years so I appreciate that watching virtually anything on this is almost a religious experience. I have been driving my family, friends and associates daffy with my raving about the quality across all formats, from 4K to a VHS-burned-to-DVD! I have been stunned by the clarity and for me, I get a sense of depth in the scenes without wearing glasses. I have had TVs by every major manufacturer and this sets the bar so high I can’t imagine what could be better. Some of the very best money I have ever spent.

    Mostly good review

I got this tv to replace a 2017 LG Oled that has burn in. For the most part things in HDR look really good. The brightness is next level! Black levels are neat OLED plus this tv has a next gen receiver which allows for interaction over the air with the extra infor the tv station signal Carrie’s However, I watch Over The Air( indoor antenna) that are broadcast in standard definition (480) and those tv stations don’t look very good compared to the old oled. To reiterate- excellent HDR performance, not so good standard definition performance

    Works great–looks great too!

This TV is big, beautiful, and easy to set up. The onscreen directions were great. We’ve been using this for a few months now with no issues whatsoever. There are a lot of options for this and you might want to go through them using an online reviewer that talks about all the things you can do to personalize the TV. We were able to use the old wall mount so didn’t have to spend extra for that. It’s used for gaming and television. So many options already on your TV, like Hulu, Tubi, etc. We’ve never purchased a Hisense TV before but based on this experience, it’s going to be our next TV purchase too. Recommend.

Hisense Loaded at an Affordable Price Point

Could not be happier about this purchase. At this price point of $698 the TV performs at a high level. Comes packed with lots of features. Setup with google account was a breeze. My only gripe is the 5 FT power cord. Wish it was a little longer (that’s what she said). I luckily found aftermarket power cords that are compactible with a few more feet. If anything should change, I will update the review.

    We love our new tv!

We bought this 85 inch Hisense TV and a mid-range Hisense surround sound. They can both be operated on the TV remote. This tv has a great picture and we are thrilled! We did spend some extra money for a very sturdy wall mount. We hired someone to set it up. Great decision for us. I would definitely recommend this TV. The user interface with the apps, live tv etc is very straight forward. I can’t get in to all the technical stuff but do love this tv and the size of it!

Worthy alternative to OLED, especially in a brightly lit room!

This is an awesome TV and even more so for the $1697 price. I moved my 77″ LG OLED to my bedroom as I wanted something larger in the main media room. I knew it would be hard to even get close to OLED quality in a larger set with something that wasn’t prohibitively expensive. Tried a 98″ Q6 TCL, definitely a no-go, washed out image, always gray never black where it should be (I should have known edge lighting was that bad). Returned it to Costco and ordered this Hisense. Couldn’t be happier with it and damn! it’s almost to bright in the evenings but, much better than the alternative and the picture quality is superb. Best value for a large 85″ mini-led TV right now bar none.

I have had Hisense U75N for approx. 6 weeks. Overall I believe the pictiure quality is excellent. It looks good on our floating wall stand. It is mounted on the provided 15 lb. stand. So far so good….

Well, it’s a TV, but no where near as good as an LG OLED TV for color and clarity

Review for the 55″ model, purchased Nov. 22nd 2024I replaced my 5+ year old LG TV because I started having black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. Which I now read that OLED TV are more prone to “absorbing” the residual graphics that eventually can become burnt into the display. This is a QLED TV, so it should be less likely to have image burn-in/absorption. The bars can be absorbed when you watch a show that does not take up the whole screen. Like and OLD show which shows as a square image, so black space on the left and right of the image, or a letter box shape that leave black space at the top and bottom of the image.I read in Hisense warranty, that this damage is NOT covered for LCD screens, not sure if it is covered for a QLED.Well, anyways.Biggest disappointment is: The color on this TV is fair. A person with red hair, had faded red, while the LG was RED and bright. The images are not as sharp. LG, if a person had a hair sticking out of their head, you can see it crisp and clear, on the Hisense, not so much. So at this point, I should have spent the extra $500 for a new LG TV. It’s too much of a hassle to pack the Hisense up and send back to Amazon and then get a new LG TV sent to me. When this Hisense dies, I’ll probably go back to LG.The sound will vary from channel to channel or app to app. I have the sound set where I want it, then go to another app and the volume jumps up to really loud, so I have to adjust it down. The volume number, like 15 stays the same, but what I hear is much more than 15. In the settings of the manual, I should be able to set the sound to Auto Volume Control, well, that option is not available. I have a sound bar connected to the TV’s eARC HDMI port. So maybe, this option is not available here, but only available when just when using the TV speakers. So using the eARC function, when I turn on the TV, the sound bar will also turn on, but takes about 30 seconds to do so. Turns off right away when the TV is powered down. What I do like is the fact the Google home screen is pretty much the same as my Amazon Firestick. I can load all my apps into the TV and use it like the Firestick, without the bluetooth controller used with the Firestick. So overall, I just need one remote, not two, TV and Firestick. The Firestick, has limited memory for apps and I ran out one time and could not install the app I wanted to use. So I had to delete app(s) to install another. So far, this TV has not had any not enough memory issues. The internal storage for this TV is 19GB, which right now I have 16GB available. The Fire TV stick (older version) only had 8GB of storage. Newer version now as 16GB.You will spend a few hours to fine turn this TV to get it the way you want it. I would suggest you go to the Hisense web site and download the warranty, quick start and user manuals for this TV and read them before making your final decision.

Near perfect black levels from QDLED!

Lives up to the hype. Excellent picture for the price. Brighter than you will ever need with great color saturation. It does have some quirks, like CEC has issues turning the tv on with apple tv and soundbar. Another issue is some native apps do not work with the soundbar, however are fine with tv speakers as the output which makes no sense. For the price you will not get a better 85″ panel, bright, deep colors, excellent black levels, the closest thing to OLED I have ever seen.

Streaming Device Required For Live TV

I really like the picture quality on this TV once I dialed in the settings. However, I think it’s pretty strange that I have to use a streaming device in order to watch live TV without it glitching, flickering and lagging. At first I thought it was my sound bar acting up, or my network connection or that I needed a firmware update. Then after doing quite a bit of reddit research, I realize that the processor on this TV is not adequate for streaming live TV and live content has to be passed through a streaming device. Once I set up a Roku streaming device, everything worked great. I just don’t understand why such an inadequate processor would be installed on a $900 TV.

Awesome full array back light tv with very few problems

Great tv, on occasion the tv sometimes flickers when turned off. To resolve it I just turn it on and the. Back off. Not a huge issue but scares me when an expensive device does glitchy things like that. The tv is super bright maybe too bright, so I use rtings.com recommended settings for setting the picture up. This tv is full array and does wonders to emphasize dark areas and making brights pop like magic.

The over the air signal strength meter gives you a 0-100% number

Some cheap tvs only use no signal, poor, fair, good ratings for the strength. The models have different feet/bases. The 55 inch uses two feet and you need a table 34 inches long. The others use a stand in the middle of the tv. There are plenty of buttons for all those internet streaming services. I think you could use it as a gaming monitor if you aren’t into things that need a top tier response rate. When i tried a game or two the tv automatically went to 144 khz 3840×2160 as my second pc monitor and what my pc is set at.The remote seems sturdy. The tv stations around here have some atsc 3.0 channels but not 4k yet. There is a zillion things for wifi fi and internet but this is just a antennae tv for me.100% happy with it.

This is the most glorious TV I have ever owned

I cannot believe how much I love this TV. As background, I bought a TLC from Amazon several months ago and hated it. Not only was it having issues working well with Google and Alexa, but I could never get the color right. It always looked off and meh. I returned it. I finally chose this one for Black Friday, and I cannot believe how much I love it. I have never owned a TV this beautiful in my life. The picture is glorious, it’s like being at the movies. Right out of the box, the picture was very good, excellent even. With some tweaks, it’s just perfect. I will say that reading the calibration suggestions online was pretty useless. It’s not like there’s that many settings, and what I found particularly nice was there were often three or four different options in each setting, each of which made the screen look better. (I opted for filmmaker mode, and just adjusted the brightness, color etc from there.) With the TLC I felt like every calibration option was subpar, nothing made the TV look better. I’m not a TV geek, so I can’t tell you about the blackness level. I CAN tell you that the color is outstanding, the clarity is outstanding, the brightness is outstanding, but it does get to be a little bright sometimes. Of all things, captions are too bright on Netflix. And while the TV itself lets you set the caption color to something less obnoxious, Netflix overrules, the TV caption settings, and only lets you do white or yellow, both of which are way too bright. Daylight scenes can be a bit much, light coming in through a window can be a bit too bright because it’s that bright of a TV. But that’s a small point. It’s simply an amazing tv. One word about the viewing angle, as I read a lot of TVs in this price range are terrible when viewed a little bit off to the side. I’m not noticing a decrease in viewing quality much at all, unlike with my TLC. So that’s a relief. I’m also enjoying the Google interface, seems to work fine, and plays well with YouTube TV, Prime video and Netflix. And it was super easy to set up. Following the instructions to put the stand on the TV was living hell, as there are picture-only instructions like IKEA! Just awful. And the TV is pretty heavy, so you’re gonna need somebody’s help putting it on the stand. But again, those are minor issues. This is the most beautiful TV I have ever owned, and the quality of the picture looks like those crazy pictures you see on display room floor, and know it’s never going to look like that at home. With this TV, it does. One final point, I’m really not understanding why this only has four out of five stars here. The professional reviewers love it (Tom’s, Rtings). It makes me wonder if some people are receiving a TV that substandard. Meaning, if with a few tweaks, this thing is not glorious, consider returning it for another one. I simply can’t express sufficiently in words how glorious this TV is. It was worth every penny (I got it for $890).

Great picture quality, good price and responsive interface

For the price around $800, this TV really packs a punch. Super bright HDR, great contrast and is very responsive. Plenty of options to tinker with for sound and video. Speaking of sound, the speakers are actually very decent for built in speakers with subs too. It would be nice to be able to debloat some of the built in apps, but it can sort of be done with adb commands if you’re feeling up to the challenge. I was able to add it to home kit and google home with a little tinkering and overall I’m very happy with the experience I’ve had so far. Hopefully it last for 5-10 years!

Great TV with vibrant colors and awesome brightness with extremely deep blacks

The media could not be loaded.

Owing to the endless debate regarding image quality of the 75 inch (ADS pro IPS panel) vs other models having VA panel (55, 65, and 85 inch models), I had to purchase both, a 75-inch and 85-inch models to compare them by myself side-to-side so as to cut this long story short!I have to admit that I was pretty impressed by the outstanding image quality of the 75 inch model and its extremely deep black contrast. Here’s my opinion after the comparison:- The colors on the 75-inch model were more saturated, natural, and incredibly vibrant when compared to the 85-inch. I did not need to change any setting of the TV out of the box. The image actually looked like it is about to come out of the TV on the 75 inch. (Check photos)- The colors looked significantly paler on the 85-inch panel and the brightness was considerably inferior as compared to the 75-inch model (check photos).- It was very evident that white images or text appeared to have a rather pinkish or reddish hue on the 85-inch which was very annoying and straining to my eyes. I tried to play with few settings as color temperature, intensity, or gamut to correct it but I couldn’t. (Check photos).- The black colors were extremely deep on both and I could not appreciate any difference between the depth of the blacks on both panels which was extremely important to me to decide which one I’ll pick at the end. In my opinion, the assumptions made by few reviewers regarding the “inferiority” of the 75-inch IPS panel compared to 85-inch VA panel were not that appreciable at all by naked eyes. I did not – at any instance – observe any degree of significant difference.- The 10-inch difference between both models, however, was strangely significant in terms of magnification which was a credit for the 85-inch panel.- The built-in speakers and subwoofer on both models are magnificent despite being a bit louder and deeper on the 85-inch model (60 watt vs 40 watt on the 75 inch, I guess). However, this was not an issue for me as I already have a home theater system. At the end of the day, I made my mind and picked the 75-inch and had to return the 85 inch one.I am extremely impressed and very well satisfied with the image quality, color vibrance and accuracy, and the extremely deep black contrats on it. This is added to the cleanliness of white colors on it being devoid of any pink or red hues as was seen on the 85-inch.

    Amazing TV for the price

Simply amazing. I have had Sony and Samsung TVs in the past. I was debating between this TV and Sony’s Mini LED which was on Sale for $500 more than this TV. I opted for this TV, mostly because of the nits and the Included Sub Woofer..Pros:1- Amazing sound, no need for a sound system or sound bar for majority of content. For HDR movies with action, I use my sound system. The sound quality is not as good as a sound system, however, it is almost as good as most sound bars!2- The picture quality is unmatched, although it is an 8 bit+FRC panel and not a native 10 bit panel, I cannot tell the difference. True 10 bit would be a good spec to have though. Local dimming is flawless, and fantastic. I have never seen whiter whites and blacker blacks on any monitor or TV, including OLEDs.3- The ergonomics of the TV and the stand, and packaging. Easy to unbox and install very smart design all around.Cons:1- The Android TV OS (Hisense’s port) on this TV is a little laggy. Probably due to the low end processor that runs it, and nub developers who ported it. It is most obvious by the volume indicator delay.2- The Ethernet speed is 100Mb, in this day and age it should be at min. 1Gb!Overall, a very good TV, and Hisense is on a path to be big competition for the likes of Sony. Someday Chinese manufacturers will learn not to cut corners (cheap panel, and processor) when they build high end products. The TV at $900 on sale is a good deal, at MSRP of $1499 is a non-starter.

Hisense U8 Series 65U8N Waste of Money

Upscalling is horrible. Picture is grainy on some OTA signals.Picture seems flat compared to other brands. Interface is clunky and confusing.Funny thing is my son has a Hisense two years old, and his picture seems clear andshows good depth and image quality. His TV was half the price of my Hisense U8 Series 65U8N.If the TV was $400, I would probably keep it. Howver, it is being returned. One more thing. I have owned many TV’s in the past. Hisense leaves me with a bad feeling onquality and reliability. Hisense warranty states they may or may not send a repair technician under warranty to your home. Up to to Hisense to make the determination if you need to send it in on your dime to be fixed. Excellent picture quality

So, I am coming from a 2019 LG C9 OLED TV. I bought this TV worrying that it will be a significant step down in quality. I was especially worried about the viewing angles.Yes, the picture quality does suffer somewhat at extreme angles. However, the overall picture quality is surprising. The colours look rich, the birghtness is more than adequate & the TV feels well-built. My family isn’t complaining…and they haven’t even heard the price yet! What really surprise me was the sound quality which is really really good. There’s a reasonable amount of Bass, more than you’d expect from a flatscreen TV. treble is a bit low but probably can be adjusted in the settings.Make sure you setup the Picture settings using Filmmaker mode as a reference otherwise it may look too colorful and artificial.Folks, this is no OLED, but for the price, I am shocked at what it can deliver. The remote is better looking compared to brands twice the price. The user interface is a bit cluttered but loads fast and works well once you know how to navigate it.The initial setup takes a while bcos of all the Google tv blah blah, but in the end it’s only a onetime setup.

Beautiful, but WiFi broken on arrival

First, generally, the TV is beautiful and sounds great. When hooked up to an ethernet cable, it streams well and is relatively snappy. As built-in TV OSes go, Google TV is halfway decent. Not anywhere near as nice as the AppleTV’s OS, but it is a lot better than the WebOS experience on our LG TV (all in my opinion of course). The picture is very bright in “Theater Night” mode, and blindingly bright in “Theater Day” mode, easily overwhelming any reflections in our room except for in the darkest of scenes. Speaking of dark: this screen gets truly black, leading to spectacular and immersive visuals.I did notice significant macro blocking on the Starz app, but not generally across other apps. This is likely just a Starz issue. We generally live in our AppleTV devices across our TVs, but with a new version expected this Fall I wanted to use the built-in apps for this TV for as long as we can. Hisense has added AirPlay support to the TV itself, so if we need to we ca just directly cast to the TV from our phones, iPads, etc.A lot of professional reviews mention poor angle of view, which is intrinsic with LCD-based TVs (including this one with its micro-LED backlight). I haven’t been able to notice it, personally. I’m sure if I had professional calibration gear I could see the off-axis issues. But, overall, we don’t generally have the TV pointed at where we are sitting in the room at any particular time, and haven’t seen either marked lack of brightness nor loss of contrast that the professional reviews generally note when off-axis more than ~20 degrees. On the theme of professional reviews, it seems they are mixed on the sound quality here. Overall, the gist is that it has plenty of sound, but it isn’t accurate to the levels of audiophiles. Given I’m far from an audiophile, and mostly just want to be able to understand the dialogue being delivered on screen without resorting to distracting captioning, I wasn’t sure what to expect, and had the option of getting a soundbar to supplement audio ready to trigger if needed. So far, I’ve been very happy with the audio here. We have it in a relatively large room with plenty of furniture, and everything I’ve watched so far is very clearly intelligible, non-muddied. I haven’t tried watching an action-centric movie/show yet, so it is possible the subwoofer will be underwhelming, but even just having a subwoofer puts it a huge step ahead of our other TVs in the house (which all have soundbars to replace their anemic audio).Okay, now for the bad:* The wifi unit is just plain broken. It will connect to my WiFi (an Alien system), but the throughput speeds range between 1Mbps and 40Mbps, erratically fluctuating (measured with the AppleTV network troubleshooting function) and randomly fails to connect to servers (see image from Netflix’s similar troubleshooting). From the router itself, it is showing significantly higher throughput than the apps in the TV see; I am not sure what exactly it is doing, but it is not showing up as streaming throughput. I should note that I went through multiple “how to fix slow network on Hisense TVs” videos and spent literally over a half day trying every suggested “fix”, including all the way down to doing a factory reset on the TV and resetting everything (which itself took over 25 minutes just to complete setup after I’d gone through all the UIs, which may have been an effect of the flakey wifi connection or might just be a slow processor/storage). Nothing could fix this. I also see a number of Reddit and other forum posts talking about wifi bandwidth issues with specific units, while replies tend to include a lot of “my [same model number] gets 100Mbps reliably” and similar. It seems like a severe quality control issue with their network chip supplier, dating back at least to the U8G series (a few years back).* Google TV has multiple “profiles”, but it seems pretty much useless outside of Youtube. I watched a few shows on Starz and Max, and those show up to “continue” on my wife’s Google TV profile (note that we have separate profiles both on the Google TV and in the individual apps). And, of course, selecting your profile in the Google TV OS doesn’t automatically set the profile in any of the underlying apps except Youtube. If you use anything aside from youtube, the top level profile system in the OS seems pretty much useless. That said, this isn’t an Hisense problem, but rather a Google problem.* While the ethernet port works (unlike the wifi), it appears to be an ancient 100 Mbps port instead of a gigabit port, as verified by the SpeedTest app that maxes out around 75Mbps throughput (you never get 100Mbps on a 100Mbps ethernet port due to necessary overhead, although the 75Mbps is a bit on the low side). This is okay for even 4k streaming (which generally runs at about 25 Gbps bandwidth usage on all the streaming services, less in some), but it shows the cost-cutting approach and impacts things like updates and other bandwidth uses in the device, as well as being able to skip around in the stream without waiting for buffering.* Hisense’s “RemoteNow” app refuses to connect to the TV. We thought it might be a side effect of the broken wifi, but even with it connected to ethernet, the app can’t find the TV. That said, the “Google TV” app seems to do just as well, providing both a remote control interface and the ability to use your phone’s keyboard instead of (in some but not all apps!) the on-screen keyboards. Fortunately, most apps now support the QR code mechanism to log in on the TV from your phone, which is okay. Definitely many more steps involved than what we are used to with AppleTV (where when login is selected two taps on the phone use the iCloud-saved password to log in on the TV with no hassle whatsoever), and it means I had to install all these streaming service apps on my phone even though I never intend to use them there, just to bridge the password from my saved iCloud store to the TV app.* Ugh, the ads. All over the OS. Which is to be expected with Google, of course. No option to turn ads off, although apparently you can reset your advertiser id to get a new fresh hell of tracking ads instead of the old stale hell of tracking ads still serving up suggestions related to that joke item you looked up two years ago.Overall, I’d recommend just treating this like a dumb TV. Connect a good streaming (or gaming) box to it, and use that. You will be super satisfied. The picture is gorgeous. The sound is IMHO more than sufficient for casual users (although obviously no surround sound etc), and it sounds like integrations to sound bars or even home theater systems are a cinch. I did notice that it has a setting (I *think* it was on by default, but I am not positive) to remember the last-used input when it is powered off and go directly to that when powered back on, so if you have an AppleTV (say) on HDMI 1, you could select that once and then never have to deal with the Google TV OS again. That said, I haven’t tested this, but it is clearly a solid step better than our WebOS-based LG that forces us to re-select the input every time the TV is powered on.

    Overall Great Value

Mini-LED is and has been my go-to for some time now. I may never go to OLED unless it is 100% guaranteed against burn-in AND the prices come down even further. Mini-LED is close enough in overall picture quality right now for me. Cannot wait for low priced Micro-LED too though. The U8N has come a LONG way since the U8H I am still using. The U8N has pretty much delivered on most of the features promised. Using what appears to be the same chipset. Definitely an overall improvement.Firstly, I am not using the OTA Tuner, WiFi, eARC or PC connection so I cannot speak on those features. Out of the box, my set’s firmware updated from 0100VO0523 to 0100VO1030 (hopefully avoiding any “brightness bug” issues).I prefer Google TV to Roku as the interface for the TV mainly just for the customized settings menus. I really like the Game Bar and separate Settings Menu along the bottom of the screen. I like how the menu shrinks down out of the way with picture adjustment. All of this I did not get with the U8H: just too early.Currently I am using a Fire TV Cube, Apple TV 4K (no DV issues), PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X with this TV and all look great. Color, Brightness, Contrast, Black Levels, Blooming Light Control, etc. are all wonderful for the price. As opposed to the U8H, the 120Hz & 144Hz image quality is just as good as 60Hz with no loss of quality. So far, VRR has been good but Rtings has mentioned a possible bug around a certain Hz. In addition, right out of the gate, this TV handles very dark and very light color gradients as good as possible. To be fair, the U8H eventually got there for me. Unlike what the U8H promised but never delivered on, the U8N CAN do Dolby Vision gaming at 120Hz. Furthermore, no Dolby Vision funny business out of the gate like the U8H. HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG are all good too.I turn motion smoothing off on all my TV’s because it is not 100% perfect and I can unfortunately always see when it hitches up (not just picking on Hisense here). Unlike the U8H, I did NOT have to make any custom adjustments on this TV. There is just the right amount of expected judder. I am primary using Dolby Vision Custom with Motion Enhancement and Clearness both off. Everything else is default for now. Note: like the U8H, there is some slight vignette in the corners. The screen is dark and non-reflective – looks good.As for audio, the speakers and subwoofer are OK. I am in a small office, and they can fill it with sound no problem. As others have stated, the sound is not “wide”. There is audio separation, just not far beyond the screen. I am using the Standard audio setting and checked the subwoofer option for wall mount since I wall mounted the TV.As for shipping, the packaging was very well done. Mine was delivered in the truck upside down, brought down manually out of the truck by handling just the straps, rotated twice back to upside down and turned right side up by me once I got it inside the house. Unless something knocks into the sides of it very hard or it is dropped from a great height, the set should hopefully arrive in good condition.Super Bowl 59 looked good on this value priced, feature packed TV. If I get another Hisense, I will definitely wait until January/February of the following year for a good price.

The media could not be loaded.

Real nice TV, nice and bright, great sound, 2 year warranty. High refresh rate for gaming, I usually go with Samsung or LG, but didn’t want to pay an extra $1k to get the same quality. This my 1st Hisense, paid $1040 after taxes and I’m happy. GAME MODE. So make sure you have a 2.0 hdmi, make sure you plus hdmi in port 3 or 4, make sure you go to game menu and turn everything on. You might se it jump from 120hz and kick back to 60hz, don’t panic. MAKE SURE YOU GO INTO WINDOW SETTING AND MANUALLY ADJUST 60hz to 120hz. Has 144hz and 240hz. I haven’t tried them yet. Also make sure Nvidia control panel is also set for 120hz. On Xbox or PlayStation, go into refresh rate settings and kick it from 60hz to 120hz.I have a RTX 5070 and get 110 fps with GOW@4k. Hopefully this TV lasts, seems durable. I picked the schedule delivery date, but they set a time and date without calling me so don’t expect a good delivery service. I seen a comment below about screen bubbling 😂 it’s a plastic screen protector for delivery. PEEL IT OFF. 😂

TV video good, can only have one audio output selected. Had to do an end-around to get audio for my headphones. Main complaint is that it does not always return to last input selected even though it is set up that way in the menu. Most frequently goes to main menu, and defaults to TV input (as in using external antenna) when going to the input selection menu. Other times retains last input (HDMI2 or HDMI3 for me) as expected.

When it comes to TV’s, I am not illiterate, but watching the reveiws on this TV, I found that there is A LOT, I do not know. I bought this when the one guy who absolutely lost me on the review, but said it was likely dollar for dollar the best TV in the world and I said OK, that should be good enough for me. I mean this is just going into the exercise room, it doesent have to be as good as my Pioneer plasma that while dated is a fantastic TV and I thought when I bought my curved 65 inch Samsung that a person could not get a better TV and picture than that…ever. In fact, I was so blown away by the Samsung, I swore that would be the only TV brand I would ever go with again. This TV was a slam dunk plug and play. The interface is very intuitive and easy to use. This TV checks all the boxes. Am I absolutely giddy that I bought this at a $650 price point? Yes. After looking at the picture quality, would I pay full retail? Yes. Does the picture quality rival my Samsung I paid 4x as much for? Yes. Should I buy another one to replace my old Pioneer plasma that has a fantastic picture as well? Yes. I do not write many reviews, but thought I might on this one. This TV is easy as pie to set up and the picture quality is absolutely wonderful. Even at full retail, you simply could not go wrong with this set. It can easily keep up with competition that costs much more. Its an exceptional value.

    Satisfied

So far so good after a few weeks. This is definitely one of the best TVs for the price. Look you can find bad reviews for anything if you keep looking. And no 2 panels are the same so it’s a lottery any way you purchase. Hisense has an A+ with the BBB because they have resolved every issue that has been brought to their attention.First ask yourself if you really need a TV with this high level of quality. If you are still using a lot of older media it will actually look worse than expected. This TV is targeted to display 4k HDR content (which will look amazing) Let the TV do its upscaling on the standard settings and non HD content will look good enough. I’ve wouldn’t say it looks horrible like some reviews. In terms of gaming, 120 fps is nice but in reality most games are still best optimized for 60 fps. If anything you may be more “future-proof” but I’ll bet most people will be displaying 4k/1440p at 60fps in this current generation of gaming. But yes, this TV will allow some 1440p at 120 fps for those games that will run effectively. PS5 and Series X/S will automatically adjust to gaming settings and HDR. The Nintendo Switch is still old school tech and will require some settings adjustment to “PC/Game” to avoid input lag.Your going to see those dimmed out corners. This is the case will all LCD TVs. This is the absolute limit of their capabilities. If you don’t want these dimmed out corners you have to step up to OLED. However they are barely noticeable if you don’t obsess about them. This is a personal choice you need to make.Bottom line I’m satisfied. I can pull my OLED switch off the base and say it pretty much compares to the TV screen. But when I walk into a store with a high quality OLED screen I can still say… yea ok, I suppose that still looks better than my QLED. But barely.

So I was doing my research on TVs and I came across this one and the amount of reviews for the price had me like oh this is really good and not bad at all.. well the picture on the tv isn’t bad it’s not over the top amazing but not bad, the problem for me came from the audio I have been having intermittent audio loss after trouble shooting the tv, from changing the hdmi to multiple different resets and changing of setting. Don’t know if I can recommend it’s possible I got a bad one but don’t know. Be wary.

Best TV I have ever owned, BUT

I’ve been a Samsung TV owner and after dealing with connectivity issues and a slow processing system, I was ready to try a new brand. I read tons of reviews before investing in this one AND I am so glad I did!Pros:- The image quality is *chefs kiss*.- A ULED is worth the money and this Hisense was more budget friendly than comparable brands.- The sound works for my room. I’m glad we are getting out of the days of needing to purchase a sound bar!Cons (READ IF YOU PLAN TO HANG THIS TV):- The screws that come in the back of the TV to attach a mount are not long enough. Especially the bottom two holes, which are inset. Had to make a trip to the local hardware store.- The power cord for the TV is short. I had to purchase a longer one.Rating it 4 stars for the annoyances. However, I do highly recommend this TV.

    Awesome TV !!!

I purchased & compared the S90D & U8N both 65″ sideby side & decided to return the Samsung & keep the Hisense tv. I found that both offered similar picture in SDR but in HDR the S90D was just too dark. No amount of adjusting or calibrating the OLED panel could overcome the darkness & it was just too distracting for me. The QLED VA panel is much brighter & showed much more black/grey detail than the OLED panel in HDR. However, the Samsung color was a bit more crisp & standoutish than the Hisense but not enough difference to keep the tv. In addition, the U8N has Dolby Vision, DTS, IMAX Enhancement, Component input & Wifi 6E.

Hisense scheduled and completed warranty work promptly

I jumped on the Black Friday special for the 65-inch Hisense U8N. It arrived on Nov. 14 with a dead wi-fi/Bluetooth antenna. I tried to schedule a return/replacement with Amazon. An obviously offshore call center left me on hold for 30 minutes, hung up on me, and never followed up on my request.Fortunately, I had better luck with Hisense warranty services. They scheduled a service tech, who arrived Dec. 7 and installed both a new main circuit board and the wi-fi/Bluetooth module.Everything is now working fine. Picture quality is outstanding. 4K HDR content from Amazon Prime video and Apple TV+ looks amazing.Hat tip to Hisense customer support. I can’t say the same for Amazon!

This TV converted me from a plasma snob

I have been a plasma tv snob for like 20 years now. Superior picture for sports and black levels. My man cave has a 60″ Panasonic plasma that is 11 years old now. LCDs and LEDs were pretty, but to me, never really did a better job for all things, especially sports.Well, for the family room tv that needed an upgrade, I chose this Hisense U8N 55″, and I am now a fan of these mini LEDs. The picture is glorious. Bright with great black levels, and once I tweaked the motion smoothing (I set it to 1 for jutter correction and 3 for smoothness), it looks great and no soap opera effect. The other thing that is really good is how well it handles reflections. I have this in a 20×22 room with 2 big 48″ skylights. In the middle of the day, my old Samsung would be REALLY hard to watch with all the reflections. But this TV, I couldn’t even notice anything. Was watching football all weekend, from 1pm on, and it was really an enjoyable viewing experience. 100% happy with it.It’s only a few weeks old so hopefully it doesn’t die on me, some of the negative reviews had me worried. But if it does I’ll be updating this review.

    Hisense is awesome

We were happy with our old 65″ but this 85″ is even more awesome. We researched mini-LED QLED (backlighting so great in brighter rooms) versus the OLED, which is actually thinner and blacker blacks because there is no backlighting. Decided the backlist QLED would be better for our brightly lit living room with lots of glass (we often watch TV during the daylight hours). Wow is it bright and vivid. When the broadcast has a true white segment – those thousands of mini-LEDs turn the TV into floodlight for a second. It’s awesome. Great TV for football and movies. Next step is to get a long HDMI2.1 cable to run back to the receiver with eARC to get the surround sound, but the TV’s own built-in speakers are really good themselves.

    Great value

Best bang for your buck. Very responsive software. Remote is quality, bright as the sun if you want that. Gaming at 144hz is very nice. Only a couple issues that should be resolved. With a sound bar connected when the TV is muted the mute icon never goes away, also there is not volume number when changing it.

    Works for me

I bought this to replace my 70” TV and so far it’s great. I chose this model because it’s big and bright. 3000 nits. I mostly use it for streaming and apps from my MacBook Air through an HDMI input but the built in apps that I’ve tried also work well. It’s definitely not too light. Lifting it up onto my wall mount took me, my son and my very strong 19 year old granddaughter. My son and I couldn’t do it alone.

Great value but the processor needs improvement

Just moved into our house and wanted a newer TV for the family room. Read through many reviews and decided on this Hisense mini-LED model. I also prefer the Google TV OS, which integrates well with my Android devices. The color and sound were both excellent. I actually found the sound quality of the TV better than the Yamaha sound bar. The only issue I have is with the processor. When I run Youtube TV or DirecTV app, navigating around the app does not feel as smooth as the Roku TV I used to have. When I use the arrow to navigate, I notice a delay of around a second or 2. Some apps, like Youtube, seem to be fine. But others have a slight delay.

Wanted it to be great…but returned

I purchased this and had it for about 3 weeks and returned it.I spent nearly the entire 3 weeks messing with the settings as I just could not get it to look the way I wanted. (Except for the gaming, which was great PQ)The price is really good for one of these sets, but not worth it if you have lots of problems, which I did.I did not use the “smart” apps on the TV home page…I use AppleTV 4K.Set up: Denon receiver; AppleTV 4K; Xbox X; 2.1 certified 8K HDMI Cables (switched to different HDMI brand with same certifications made no difference)Pros:-Had really good PQ with Dolby Vision 4K streams and gaming-Good Price-came with mounting screws (not the mount, just the screws for a mount you own)Cons:-Registering product signup did not work via TV or web; phone call remained unanswered. I may have finally got it registered. It read website not working and then said registered after multiple tries; but never received any email or correspondence, so I just don’t know.-switching from Xbox X back to AppleTV (HDMI 2.1 inputs) after one week suddenly caused flickering of screen about 75% of the time. Shut off required to stop it from flickering.-Darker scenes with slight light in scene (like a sunset type of look) caused that lightning type of flicker; very slight but noticeable at the top of the screen sometimes.-Audio drop outs on AppleTV 4K using Atmos or anything dolby digital unless moving ATV to STEREO-Thought drop out was on receiver end: went through U8 speakers: still had drops outs. This is more than likely an issue between ATV and the U8, but that’s what I use and it should not have issues.-Constantly messing with individual HMDI PQ settings the entire 3 weeks for SDR and HDR. PQ looked washed out or just didn’t look right to me. The only time it looks good to me was Dolby Vision 4K.-About 30% of the time would boot up in the U8 home screen instead of the ATV screen. (Settings had it set for last input and home was never my last input, it was always AT or the Xbox)There were just too many problems in my opinion with the TV.The price was right, so I really wanted the TV to work for me. After 3 weeks of constantly messing with the PQ settings as well as all the other issues on top of my personal setting preferences not being good, I decided to return the TV. It was just too much trouble for me, even with the great price.Update: Purchased another brand 4K 2.1 OLED (it was double the price of the U8 though) and have had zero problems with the exact same gear and 2.1 cables. (messed with the settings for PQ at set up and never had to go back to adjust.)

    Amazing TV

Let me qualify myself. I am not a tv expert, but I do watch a lot of tv. With that said, I debated with myself for months before I finally bought the Hisense brand tv mostly because I thought it was just another low budget electronics company, boy was I wrong. This is a quality tv just packed with features. The picture is awesome, and that is on 1080, can’t wait to get 4k. My only disappointment is that the sound wasn’t as good as hoped, but was still better than most standard tv sound systems. Delivery and set up was easy and efficient. This is a great tv for the price, not a cheap tv.

It worked out if the box

Like any new tv these days, it takes a little work to figure out what it does, so we’re still learning that. But the picture is awesome! In addition to new digital content, we watch a lot of old shows. In the picture above, we’re watching an old Dick Van Dyke episode. It almost seems 3D. I worked in television for 20 years, and I’m sure these new digital remasters, on a state of the art tv, are better picture quality than the original editors and engineers ever saw. Pretty cool.
